GOBEEK'S TOP 3's

1. Routines

Playing good tennis is all about good routines, as demonstrated by the top performing athletes. These routines keep us composed and give us something familiar to come back to. We encourage our players to develop a routine for both serving and receiving, make it a habit, and part of their game. The goal is to help focus on preparation for the next point: Plan, Visualise, Focus.

2. Emotions

Anger, frustration, sadness, anxiety and nerves are all common experiences felt by tennis players. You need to learn to notice your emotions, let them be there, then refocus on the present moment. Push positive emotions to the surface such as gratitude, happiness, enjoyment, fun, enthusiasm can all be helpful for your mindset. The most effect measure we encourage still lies in taking a slow deep breathe before starting the next routine.

3. Effort

We believe that putting in maximum effort is an essential skill to become a great player off and on the court. It’s an athletic trait that can be practised and learned, not something  that you’re either born with or not. So we encourage our players to give their all, and run down every ball before it can even bounce twice.
